What’s for Lunch? A Whole Lot of Appreciation! MUSD Celebrates National School Lunch Hero Day!

Formerly the Raytheon Leader in Education Award, the Tucson Values Teachers E.L.E.V.A.T.E. Award recognizes outstanding PreK–12 teachers across Pima County who go above and beyond in their service to students, schools, and the teaching profession.

Today, we highlight Craig Rex, a proud alumnus of Marana Elementary School (Class of ‘76), Marana Junior High School (Class of ‘79), and Marana High School (Class of ‘82). Craig fondly reflected on his time in MUSD, sharing that some of his strongest memories come from being involved in school athletics and student life.

Under Jill’s guidance, the United Way Cradle to Career Empowered Teaching initiative has grown significantly across the district, expanding from just 2 classrooms to 12 schools and reaching more than 1,550 students.

April 20 - May 1 there will be a temporary closure of the I-10 eastbound Tangerine Road off-ramp affecting drivers coming from Phoenix. Families are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate off-ramps exit 236, 242, or 244.

MUSD is hosting Gifted Education in Marana (GEM) Parent Info Night on Wednesday, April 15th, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Coyote Trail Elementary School. Families, educators, and community members are invited to join us!

During National Associate Principals Week April 6-10, MUSD celebrates our APs who have helped build strong school communities. We recognize the energy, hard work, and dedication they provide to each school!

The community is invited to a once-in-a-century celebration, honoring 100 years of education, community, and tradition in MUSD on Sat., April 25, 2026. Special events include a daytime, free 100-Year celebration for families at MHS, and an evening dinner and fundraiser.

The MUSD Family Resource Center recently celebrated the completion of its Make Way For Books Storytime series, bringing together families through an engaging literacy experience.

The District received recognition for its response to a school bus accident traveling from Phoenix on I-10 near the Tangerine Exit in April 2025. Marana Unified School District is deeply honored to receive this award.

After a successful student taste test, the California Burrito is coming districtwide! Packed with seasoned beef, crispy potatoes, and melty cheese in a warm tortilla, it will be served on March 25 and April 8. Don’t miss this student-tested favorite!

LEAP Before and After school care is available at all MUSD Elementary Schools and K-8s! Registration for the 2026-27 Learning, Enrichment, and Play (LEAP) program opens soon.
